We are really glad to be welcoming Rebecca Harris, the Member of Parliament for Castle Point, to Dartford for our Kent County Council election fundraising event on Thursday 23rd March 2017 at the Malt Shovel, Darenth Road, from 7:30pm.
Rebecca was elected MP for Castle Point in 2010 and is currently the Parliamentary Private Secretary for Sajid Javid MP, the Secretary of State for Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
She has previously worked as a sales representative and delivery driver for a publishing firm and also worked in a book shop as a sales assistant. Later, she became the marketing director at the publishing firm before she turned to full-time politics. She worked at the Conservative Research Department, where she was assisted with the 'Keep the Pound' campaign in the 2001 General Election. She has also worked as a special advisor and for an MP while a Parliamentary candidate.
Since being elected MP for Castle Point, she has waged a number of campaigns on behalf of her constituents, including that of flooding and preserving the green belt. She has also campaigned previously for the abolition of daylight savings and the moving of the UK onto Central European Time. Rebecca campaigned for Leave in the European Union referendum in 2016.
Rebecca is also the proud owner of Milo, a greyhound that was one of the 2016 Parliamentary Pets of the Year, and is an ardent campaigner to improve the welfare of greyhounds.
